Kathmandu: Under the World Cup Cricket League-2, Nepal has achieved a record victory in the home match against PNG.
With the win, Nepal is now only one win away from qualifying for the ODI World Cup. Nepal completed the target of 96 runs given by PNG by losing 1 wicket with 254 balls remaining.
Nepal won by 9 wickets in the last match of the ongoing series against PNG. This is Nepal’s biggest win by wicket difference. Earlier, on February 12, 2020, Nepal completed the target of 36 runs by losing 2 wickets in just 5.2 overs against the USA.
Asif Shaikh completes ninth ODI half-century in Nepal’s victory. Kushal Bhurtel scored 33 runs in 14 balls while he played an unbeaten innings of 53 runs off 21 balls. Similarly, Kushal Malla scored 12 runs off 13 balls.
After losing the toss and batting first, Nepal got an easy target after PNG was bowled out for 95 runs in 32 overs. Captain Asad Bhala’s 20 runs was the highest for PNG.
Similarly, Sese Bau scored 18 runs, Charlies Amini scored 16 runs and Hirihiri scored 14 runs. Opener Kipling was dismissed for 2 runs while Riley Hekure was dismissed for 4 runs. Similarly, Norman Bhanuwa returned to the pavilion for 0 runs off 10 balls.
For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane took the most 5 wickets while Lalit Rajvanshi and Kushal Malla took 2 wickets each. Similarly, Sompal Kami had 1 wicket.
