Doha: The 23-year-old Abubakar Abbas of Kenya has become the darling of football fans at the Qatar World Cup. He has gone viral on social media.
His job is to sit on the tennis umpire’s chair and show the football fan(s) the way to the nearest metro station using a megaphone with a big foam finger. He said, ‘Metro, this way! Metro, this way!’ has become a popular slogan these days.
“We like him, we like the ‘Metro Guy’,” said one football fan. Another football fan said, “I saw him on Tik Tok. I enjoyed it very much. He makes me laugh. How easy is his work.’
Football fan who reach Qatar’s famous Souk Wakif Bazaar have come to talk to him today and tomorrow. His other counterparts have started having fun with him too.
